WOMEN'S BLAZER - A BRIEF HISTORY
The first women's blazers appeared about 150 years ago and gained popularity thanks to Coco Chanel in the 1950s of the last century. The famous designer created a blazer that was made of tweed and inspired by men's fashion. It was immediately loved by elegant women such as Brigitte Bardot, Grace Kelly and Jackie Kennedy making the blazer an indispensable part of every woman's closet. To this day, many cuts and styles of women's blazer have been created. In the last few seasons, the most popular blazer was oversize cut with an exaggerated shoulder line, while more and more tailored cuts with a slim fit are also appearing.
JACKET AND BLAZER FOR WOMEN - WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?
Very often these terms are used interchangeably, but there are characteristics that are specific to each concept. The jackets, which used to be an exclusively men's closet item, is characterized by a straight cut and regular cut. Women's blazers retain these characteristics and what distinguishes them from the blazer is the lack of a waistline. Blazers were designed immediately with women in mind. They can be worn with elegant pants and a skirt to create a formal look perfect for the office, a business meeting or an important family event, and with jeans to create a less formal, everyday look.
